Targeted Support

SMART UA translated research into practical, person-centred support for Ukrainian refugees in Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. Skills and vulnerability assessments helped partners better understand individual needs, while language learning, mentoring and targeted training supported access to housing, employment and greater independence.

Assessments & Forms

SMART UA used assessment tools and forms to better understand participants’ skills, needs, expectations and vulnerabilities. These tools supported a more tailored approach, helping project partners identify appropriate pathways towards employment, training, housing and other forms of support.

Person-Centred Approach

SMART UA developed a Person-Centred Approach (PCA) to ensure that support responds to the individual circumstances, priorities and vulnerabilities of Ukrainian refugees rather than applying the same solution to everyone.

The approach provides practical guidance for assessing needs, involving participants in decisions and tailoring support around areas such as housing, employment, social assistance and integration.

Course Materials

SMART UA partners developed and delivered practical learning activities adapted to national contexts and participants’ needs. The materials cover four main areas: language learning, IT and digital skills, self-employment and soft skills, supporting participants in strengthening their employability and navigating life in their host country.

Language Courses

Language courses supported participants in developing the communication skills needed for everyday life, employment and integration.

IT & Digital Skills

Digital training aimed to strengthen participants’ practical digital competences and employability, including skills relevant to accessing jobs and navigating an increasingly digital labour market.

Self-Employment

Self-employment activities provided participants with knowledge and practical tools to explore entrepreneurship and independent economic opportunities.

Soft Skills

Soft-skills training supported participants in developing communication, professional and employability skills, with activities adapted to different profiles and levels of previous experience.

DIRECT HOUSE SUPPORT

The project provides targeted support for housing needs based on needs and vulnerability individual assessments. Households are supported by case workers and participate in sessions where they can receive information on their rights and obligations related to the housing market in their host country. Additionally, the project created a list of trustworthy landlords and verified public services to help project participants find housing.
