Hospitality Opens Doors to Peace Around the World

25 October 2026

On Hospitality Day, 22 October, Jesuit networks around the world came together to celebrate and renew our commitment to hospitality and peace.

Under the motto “Open the Door. Open Your Arms,” the Paths of Hospitality initiative invited communities, organisations and institutions to take part in a global gesture to foster a culture of welcome, create opportunities for encounter and contribute to peace through our everyday relationships.

Educational, social and religious communities from across the world, including Latin America, the United States, Europe, Africa and Asia, joined the celebration. With open doors and open hearts, they shared their commitment to hospitality.

As Fr Arturo Sosa SJ, Superior General of the Society of Jesus, reminds us: “Welcoming, listening, accompanying and meeting one another as equals bring us closer to the dream of a more just, reconciled and fraternal society.”

In his message for Hospitality Day, he emphasises that every person and community that welcomes migrants, defends their rights and supports their integration becomes a sign of hope.

Hospitality Day invites us to recognise the dignity of every person, build bridges and nurture relationships rooted in closeness and respect. Hospitality, understood as a form of political love, helps heal the wounds of our world and sow the seeds of reconciliation and peace.

Behind every open door are people, encounters and stories. We invite you to discover more at Paths of Hospitality – Hospitality Day.

Happy Hospitality Day!
