European Jesuit Organizations reconnect with our Ignatian roots

The European Jesuit Organizations based in Brussels met at the Chapel for Europe for an afternoon of joint work and reflection. The gathering was focused on exploring the roots and history of the Society of Jesus and how the original mission is still present in the work carried out every day by each organization.
Dalibor Renić Sj, President of the Conference of European Provincials, welcomed everyone and emphasized the importance of the mission of the Society of Jesus as a key differential value of each the works in their respective area.
Herminio Rico SJ, Treasurer and Assistant to the President of the Conference of European Provincials, gave a brief presentation on the constant commitment to the promotion of faith and justice throughout the almost 500 years of history of the Jesuits. He also explored how throughout the different General Congregations, Jesuits have further refined and clarified this commitment to include all the present social works.
He later divided the team in groups to reflect on the aspects of the Jesuit mission that each one sees reflected in their daily work. The meeting gathered the members of the Jesuit Conference of European Provincials, the Jesuit Refugee Service Europe, Schola Europaea, the Jesuit European Social Centre and the Chapel for Europe.
