Our work in Portugal
JRS Portugal started in 1992 and focuses on providing a variety of services to forced migrants including social support, psychological support, medical support, legal support, professional integration, employability support, Portuguese language courses, translation, interpretation and cultural mediation, housing support, professional training, and shelter for homeless immigrants. JRS Portugal also accompanies migrants detained by the state (Housing Unit of Santo António) and is currently responsible for managing three reception centers and coordinating the Refugee Support Platform (Plataforma de Apoio aos Refugiados), raising awareness among civil society and advocating for the rights and dignity of immigrants and refugees.
