JRS and Xavier Network Reaffirm Commitment to One Proposal in June Strategy Meeting
26 June 2025

On June 18, 2025, representatives from JRS Europe, Xavier Network, JRS International, and JRS USA gathered in a hybrid modality for a strategic meeting held at the JRS Europe Regional Office in Brussels. The session marked another important step in advancing the One Proposal project—an initiative that continues to unite Jesuit organizations in response to the protracted crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.
A key milestone of the meeting was the joint decision to renew the One Proposal project, ensuring that the coordinated response by the Society of Jesus will continue beyond its initial three-year framework. This renewed commitment reflects the shared recognition that sustained support remains essential as the humanitarian needs of displaced individuals persist and evolve.
The meeting centered on aligning project coordination, funding strategies, and communication efforts across partners, with a shared focus on sustaining long-term support for those displaced by conflict.
Alberto Ares, Regional Director of JRS Europe, emphasized the importance of continued collaboration:
“Millions of people in Ukraine continue to endure unimaginable hardship as the war persists, forcing families to flee their homes and seek safety elsewhere. The ongoing conflict demands our urgent attention and compassionate support, as displaced individuals face daily struggles for shelter, security, and hope—needs that initiatives like the One Proposal strive to address.”
Continued Impact, Ongoing Needs
Since the onset of the war, The Society of Jesus in collaboration with NGOs and local partners, have reached over 127,716 people seeking safety and stability, thanks to the tireless efforts of JRS country offices, the Xavier Network, and a broad alliance of local and international partners.
In 2024 alone, the joint response assisted 26,951 individuals, with aid provided in Ukraine and surrounding countries reaching 115,159 people since the beginning of the crisis. An additional 12,557 have received support through the Integration Fund as they resettle in secondary host countries across Europe.
As the situation evolves, so does our mission—from immediate emergency relief to sustainable support that fosters dignity, resilience, and community integration for those forced to flee.
Support That Sustains Hope
None of this work would be possible without the solidarity of individuals, communities, and institutions across the globe. Whether through volunteering, advocacy, or financial support, each contribution helps to uphold the dignity and future of thousands.
We invite you to join us on this journey. Stand with us. Support the One Proposal project and help extend care, hope, and opportunity to those displaced by war.
