Spain

In Spain, JRS partners with Servicio Jesuita a Migrantes (SJM), a network present in six Spanish cities. SJM assists migrants from their moment of first arrival and all the way through the process and through obtaining citizenship. SJM visits detention centres to accompany the most vulnerable to provide legal advice.  Although there are many asylum seekers in Spain, the number of granted protection is very low  and SJM seeks to draw attention to this disparity through its research and advocacy reports.
