United Kingdom
JRS UK advocates for people who are destitute as a consequence of policies and those detained for the administration of immigration procedures. Both practical and emotional support is offered to all the people we serve. Through our Day Centre, JRS welcomes people with conversation and a meal and provide them with basic necessities. A specific focus on legal support helps people to sort out the difficult circumstances people find themselves in and gives prospect for the future. A big part of our work is in pastoral accompaniment through spiritual support and prayer groups. JRS UK’s recent reports Out in the Cold and For our welfare and not for our harm make clear the issues faced by the people we meet everyday and highlight their voices and experiences to demonstrate the need for policy change.
